An absolute pleasure to produce this work with my new friend David Douglass for his new Austin PBS series, David Eats Everywhere.
In a particularly nice collision of old relationships and new ones, my dear friend Ariel Quintans directed and edited all six episodes,
Every person involved poured a ridiculous amount of care into these pieces, and it shows. The result is a collection of funny, warm, deeply human stories about some of the best food in Austin got here, and the chefs bringing their native recipes, flavors, traditions and ideas to Central Texas.
We shot deliberately small and intimate: tiny crew, real kitchens, lots of listening and following the story wherever it wanted to go. You know, doc stuff.
Being part of this show reminded me why I moved back to Austin in the first place. This city is at its best when it makes room for people to bring something of their own here.
